APOSTLE BUILD 2008
An upcoming mission project called Apostle
Build 2008 is a united effort of 10 local churches to build a home in
Jubilee Heights through Habitat for Humanity for the Anderson family.
KUPC has committed to provide 1/10 of the labor, money & hospitality for
the overall project.
We have work days scheduled for
Saturday, September 20 (we have LOTS of volunteers!) and Friday,
October 10 - but if you want to work on other days - it is easy to
register yourself on the Habitat website (See below) - and look at
different dates and sign up to work when the crew is small or when
the work looks interesting! Call me or Jerry if you have trouble
with this. Let us know when you choose to work so we can keep
count of all our people who are participating. Our first work day
last week was tremendous - and it was great for our relationships -
to do God's work in the world is powerful and is what we are called
to do. It is our mission, should we choose to accept it!! Mission
Possible!
If you have access to the internet, you can view Habitat's calendar of
events and sign up right from your computer. Visit our website at
http://www.habitatwv.org/kanawha/ and click on the green "Volunteer
Up" tab. You'll be able to see where we will be working and how you can
become part of this rewarding mission.
Habitat also maintains a Volunteer Information Line. You can call
720-4470 after 6pm and hear updated information on construction
activity, weather and news for the following day. If the weather is
questionable, the Hotline will be updated again, by 7:00 the following
morning. Tiny, our construction supervisor, can be reached on his cell
at 741-1161 and our Volunteer Manager can be reached at 541-2914.

As leaving
Spring Hill, Left (at the BP station) on Kanawha Tpk-Avesta
Drive
Sharp Left on
Kanawha Tpk at 0.1 mile
Right on Jubilee
St. at 0.4 mile
Continue Left on
Jubilee ( Beware, the street sign is turned.)
House is under
construction on the Right. |

From Jefferson Road:
go west on Kanawha Tpk.
Stay on Kanawha Tpk through the stop sign at Rock
Lake Drive.
You will pass Rock Lake Presbyterian Church.
Kanawha Tpk turns into Lincoln Drive at this point.
Go about 1/4 mile past the church. Turn right on
Pike Street. Pike is the first street after passing the
church.
Go one block on Pike Street.
Turn right on Allview. Go one block.
Turn left on Main Drive. Go approx. 3/10th mile on
Main.
Jubilee is on the left. |
Either one
works. Remember - Kanawha Tpk does not go through!!
